When do I vote?

Akron's Primary Election is on September 8, 2015. The polls are open from 6:30 am until 7:30 pm.

Do I need to take an ID?

Yes, you will need one of the following: a current photo ID, a military ID, or a current bill that shows your name and address. If you have both a photo ID and a utility bill handy, we suggest that you TAKE BOTH to be certain you can cast your vote.

What if I forget my ID?

You can still vote by providing the last four digits of your social security number and casting a provisional ballot. This is not the best way to vote because your ballot may not be counted until several days after the election.

What if I arrive right before the polls close?

As long as you are in line prior to 7:30 pm, you can vote, even if it is past 7:30 pm when you cast your ballot. It is important that you STAY IN LINE and DO NOT LEAVE without casting your vote.

Can I vote if I have been convicted of a crime?

Yes, any registered voter that is not currently in jail or prison can vote.

What if I have a problem voting?

Can a Republican vote in the Democratic Primary?

Yes. You must specifically request a party change and a Democratic Ballot when you arrive at your polling location. They will ask you to sign form 10-X. You are allowed to change your party affiliation back later if you wish.

Am I registered to vote?

Enter your name in the form above to look up your voter registration. You must be registered by August 10, 2015. Registering will also update your address or anything else that has changed since the last time you voted.
